One of the largest forestry companies in the Nelson Marlborough region is OneFortyOne, which owns a total of 80,000 hectares of forests across the top of the South Island, and harvests 1.2 million cubic metres of logs each year. Logs are processed at local sawmills, with the products destined for the New Zealand and export markets.
As well as its plantation forests, the company protects 9000 hectares of conservation land, and supports community initiatives such as Habitat for Humanity Nelson’s affordable homes scheme, the Great Taste Trail cycle path, a section of which passes through the company’s forests, and the Coronation Forest school planting programme.
